PATRICIA DELDIN

Dr. Patricia Deldin is currently a Professor at the University of Michigan, Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology. She is the current Chairwoman and Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology program in the Department of Psychology, and one of the Associate Directors of the University of Michigan Depression Center.

As one of the founding members, she helped to launch the National Network of Depression Centers—a network of over 20 leading Depression Centers that was created to speed breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of mood disorder. She is the director of the EPICs lab in the Psychology Department.

Prior to her time at Michigan, for nearly a decade, she was a professor of Psychology at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. This followed graduate training at the University of Illinois and University of Wisconsin. Prior to graduate training, she spent time at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD doing research on Mood and other psychiatric conditions after graduating from the University of Iowa, with an honor’s degree in Psychology. She has published nearly 80 articles mostly focusing on the neuro-correlates of major depression.

Major depression affects nearly 1 in 4 women during their lifetime and is a leading cause of disability. While in residence at WISC, she will be developing a novel treatment approach for major depression and other illnesses, that is readily scalable to the entire population, fully based on science and is cost effective.
