The Marilyn Mason Fellowship
In 2017, the Women’s International Study Center will establish the Marilyn Mason Fellowship to honor the memory of dynamic leader, mentor and a founder of WISC, Dr. Marilyn Mason.
From the moment Marilyn first heard of the proposal to develop WISC, she was the strongest of advocates and the most dedicated of workers on its behalf. Her experience was invaluable as a member of the Founders Committee, where she radiated enthusiasm but urged a methodical process of development.
It was the saddest of days for WISC when Marilyn gave up her position on the Board of Directors to focus on her health. Yet, she remained constantly available to advise informally.
Those of us who worked with Marilyn to bring WISC into existence continue to hear her voice in our meetings. She had such a strong impact that we know what she would say. Her presence continues to be felt.
WISC will forever reflect the vision, spirit and commitment of Marilyn Mason.
Marilyn was a consultant to major corporations such as Cargill, Target and 3M, and her many interests included women’s rights. Therefore, the Marilyn Mason Fellowship will be awarded to WISC fellows whose work focuses on women’s issues and rights, and/or women in business.
We are grateful to the many generous donors who knew Marilyn and made contributions in her honor, making the Marilyn Mason Fellowship possible.
